Collective Bargaining for TSOs featured in House Bill

Representative Nita Lowey (D-NY) recently introduced H.R. 3212, which provides collective bargaining rights for Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) – airport screeners. H.R. 3212 would eliminate the footnote in the Aviation and Transportation Security Act that denies TSOs the rights and protections normally provided to federal employees, including the right to collective bargaining.

As AFGE members, we need to contact our representatives and ask them to co-sponsor H.R 3212 and support collective bargaining rights for TSOs.

Support H.R. 3212 and Collective Bargaining Rights for TSOs

Dear [ Decision Maker ],

I am writing you to ask you to co-sponsor H.R. 3212, a bill introduced by Representative Nita Lowey (D-NY) that would provide collective bargaining rights to Transportation Security Officers (TSOs). H.R. 3212 would eliminate the footnote in the Aviation and Transportation Security Act that denies TSOs collective bargaining rights and basic labor protections.

As an AFGE member, I know how important it is that all federal employees are granted collective bargaining rights. Collective bargaining rights for TSOs will not hinder the federal government's emergency response capability. To the contrary, union and other labor rights are necessary to ensure the highly trained, experienced, career screener workforce the public demands and the 9/11 Commission has previously recommended.

I hope you will take this into consideration and co-sponsor H.R. 3212 is support of the TSOs that bravely protect our skies everyday.

Sincerely,
